There Is A UDIC Facebook Group (In Case You Didn't Know)
Someone set up a Facebook Group for the Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter (UDIC) a while ago, and recently set about modernizing its layout:

UDIC 2.0?
If you’re on Facebook, I would encourage you to sign up and join in the conversation; there’s already been a fair amount of traffic and discussion since the changeover. The communications settings for the group have been overhauled, and the conversations have gotten quite lively as a result.
Now, my question is this…should this group keep the UDIC moniker? Or should it opt for the re-brand and style itself the Ultima Dragons Facebook Chapter (UDFC)?
Of course with an acronym like that, it might be mistaken for a soccer team. Now there’s a mental image!
Eh, the UDIC Facebook group has been around forever (at least since early 2008), but it was recently upgraded to Facebook’s new group style.
Fair enough…and they also upgraded its communications, I see; I’ve never gotten emails from it before, but I’m quite enjoying the lively discussion.
this udic stuff… first I waited years for getting my dragon name (my application had been lost in internet limbo back then). Now I have to apply again on the FB group… 🙂
and don’t even think about the UDFC!!! 🙂

Cool that it’s still around in a more accessible vessel, though. I remember them from my pre-web Usenet days. Wonder if there was ever a Prodigy group, haha. Such fond memories…

Over the last 10 years I’ve filled out their membership request at http://www.udic.org maybe 5 times and never heard a thing from them, and never turned up in their master membership list.
I’m not going to chase them down on Facebook. Why even have a club if you just ignore propective members?
Guess that begs the question “WTF is in charge of UDIC?” And I don’t mean “Withstand the Fury”. Maybe it’s so decentralized that everyone thinks someone else is going to take care of “it”. Ironically I don’t think I ever did participate way back in the day.
Wow, thats funny. I actually originally created the group. I stopped using facebook for a while, so I nearly forgot about the group I started. Sorry guys for the neglect, I hope it wont happen again.

That’s actually where they started. Hence the need to specify – “Internet Chapter.”
Odkin, don’t be offended. It’s not like there’s somebody on the other end who saw your emails and said “We don’t serve your kind”.
It’s possible that with all the ruckus on the Facebook group, that somebody will wake up and take care of admitting some new members. Our host himself may even be able to help you with that.

Seems i was lucky when i applied for membership in 2003. Took less then a week till i got accepted IIRC. I never liked Facebook much – but this groub gives a reason to check by from time to time. Ah.. yes.. UDFC *yikes* 😯
Should remain as UDIC… Facebook is still on internet, right?
