The first ever Nightly Open Thread
Some of you may have noticed that the forum links are gone. The old forum has been shut down, and the new forum has an error I can’t fix…and, frankly, don’t care to. I mean, hardly any of you Dragons and Dragonettes were using the forums; the major conversational action here at Aiera happens in the comment forms of the news posts.
With that in mind, let me present what I intend to become a more or less nightly feature of Aiera: the Nightly Open Thread (NOT, for short). For those familiar with blogging lingo, an open thread is “a blog post…where readers may comment and discuss any topic that they choose.”
That’s pretty much it. Discuss anything, Ultima-related..or not-Ultima-related. Post links to interesting stuff, ask questions about Ultima (or other games, for that matter). Mix it up a bit.
Here, I’ll kick this one off: the average faces of women from a selection of countries. I’m actually a big fan of this photo blending technique, which overlays dozens of faces atop each other to create an “average face” from all of them.
Sadly, the list here tops out at ‘Taiwan’, so it’s hardly complete. What does the average Ukrainian face look like? I must know!
(from here)
this. is . awesome.
really all i can say.
I love the fact that they are all so beautiful
I doubt that the average South African woman should be white, but neat find.
1. the front page layout is still broken in Firefox on OS X (this time with the Firefox 4 beta 11 – before it was a Firefox 3.x latest version at the time of reporting)
2. Made some all-in-one installer for the Exult audio data (the sfx packs and the digital music pack) for both Windows and OS X (also a plain zip with all the files for manual installation or *nix users). Each about 50MB big.
No link on the Exult home page but on the SF project page: https://sourceforge.net/projects/exult/files/exult-data/
I’ll probably post a news item tomorrow or on friday on the Exult homepage. Also will need to address the damn disappearing objects bug we have and general progress since RC1…
Okay, Dominus, I’ve made one change, which…well, which I HOPE fixes the problem. Let me know if not.
Thanks for the update, Dominus. I’ve seen the error myself now in a couple of test browsers, including the IE9 beta, and it’s an error in the image rotator’s CSS. I’m going to try and tweak it, but I am also grooming a couple of templates to replace the current one if I can’t fix it.
Haven’t had a lot of time to work on it, though. Real life keeps me busy, and I usually just manage to post news.
Neat stuff about the installer; I’ll add that to the news queue and wait for your news posting to appear.
nope, Firefox still shows that row with the ascrollable article list wrong (only a little bit is shwon to the right).
Exult has news 🙂
Okay, I’ll keep plugging away at it.
I’ll be sure to post the news as well. Might have to wait until tomorrow, as I’m working off my iPhone now and waiting to board a plane. But I’ll try.
