Pluto is still no longer considered a planet (bah!), but Planet X might be getting another shot at stardom. Or, rather, planet Tyche, a rumoured megaplanet located way far out in the Oort Cloud.
I’m not sure exactly how they’re planning to detect or otherwise verify Tyche’s existence…something about how comets aren’t emerging from the Oort Cloud as they should. If that sounds too heady, why not feel a shred of pity for these five astronauts instead, who have been locked in cramped quarters for 257 days, and have another 240 days to look forward to.
They can detect far away bodies by their gravity (and its effect on other bodies, such as comets), since its variation (mass or placement) pulses electromagnetic waves.
The most difficult part: how can they really do this… and how much patience does it takes to observe such phenomena?

Hehe, it came up in Exult’s forum and grumpy as I am on the forum I wanted to direct the discusiion to aiera and thought this was the same as the other LB interview you posted of the other day… When I found it wasn’t I knew you might need the heads up 😉
Yeah, it’s set to post in like five minutes here. (I tend to set things to post a few hours — or up to a day — after they’re written.)
Not that I don’t appreciate the heads up, mind you. I catch most things thanks to Twitter and 300+ RSS subscriptions, but stuff does sometimes fall through the cracks.
So thanks, and keep alerting me to stuff I have missed/haven’t yet posted about. I do sometimes really need that info.
Hey since this is a open comment thread can I just mention how appreciative I am for Kenneth’s efforts at keeping this Ultima site going and keeping it active very day? I visit almost daily now because he posts interesting Ultima related topics daily…..very nice job and thank you.
Maybe in that spirit, can you give us a little bio on yourself? Nothing personal if you dont want to….Maybe something like what are you favorite Ultima games in what order? I know your favorite is Ultima VI though..
Anyways, just a thought I had.

Sorry wasn’t trying to make things weird:) There just aren’t many Ultima sites that get updated frequently enough to be worth daily visits so I can tell you put alot of effort into this and wanted to show appreciation.
Eh, I don’t mind putting up something, but…then again, I kind of let the rest of what I do online serve that purpose too, y’know?
I’ll consider it.
