Okay, I’m totally worn out from the trip today. I got nothin’, so post anything interesting you may have tripped over today.

I can’t think of anything.
Actually, if anyone is a fan of AGDInteractive’s studios remakes of Sierra’s quest games, they’ve recently announced they are soon to release a remake of King’s Quest III (http://agdinteractive.com/). I actually thought it had already been released so was kinda surprised when I saw the announcement (I was one of their beta testers). The game is awesome, so check it out when it is released.
Also, I’ve put a small update on my Serpent Isle remake site. Just a screenshot of Fawn, since it looked awesome at sunset. I went into the game expecting the city to be all white after I made it yesterday, but instead it was a pinky/orange colour from the sun.
Just checked out your site, Thepal. I didn’t even know your project existed until just now but wow, those screenshots look fantastic. Especially Fawn – looks exactly how I’d imagined it would in 3D.
Also, from looking at your site I realised you’re a fellow Australian.
Ok, I’m not really contributing to the discussion much. Just felt that needed saying.
Sounds fantastic; I’ll have to check it out this evening!
The game is due out this week, Thepal. Are you on the Phoenix Online forums, by any chance?
King’s Quest III remake done 5 years ago http://www.infamous-adventures.com/kq3/ from another company BTW. Sadly no screenshots to compare. Plot will be differ/closer to the source. Anyway it makes me wonder about second remake. They they should have done Space Quest 3 or Larry 3 remake or something else. Anyway, nice to hear that KQ series are alive.
They’ve been working on KQ3 for 8 years in secret (before IA started their remake). They decided it was best to keep quiet about it, even if someone else did a remake of the same game. So, when they started it, there wasn’t any other KQ3 remake.
Having played AGD’s version, I gotta say it is substantially more polished than IAs. I’d almost go so far as to say – as far as one of these sort of games go – that it is pretty much perfect. Which you’d expect after all the experience the team has had. And it all starts off amazingly in the first seconds of the intro (I think music is a huge part of a good game)
“Are you on the Phoenix Online forums, by any chance?”
And I haven’t visited Phoenix Online for a while. I tend to retreat to the shadows in most communities a lot. My posts here are the most I’ve said in a community in a long time. It does make it cool when I reappear though. I tend to get “Oh my god! It’s Thepal” at various places 😛
i’m really looking forward to Infamous Adventuress’s space quest re-make
Three guys from Cryptic studios entered the Iron Gamedev competition (wherein you produce a game in 48 hours) and came up with this: http://bigscreensmallgames.com/BennyLava/.
You can download the game there and also view a time-lapse video of the three of them working on it over the course of 28 hours. Seeing this kind of stuff simultaneously inspires and depresses me. It depresses me because it makes me so jealous. I don’t even come close to being that productive ><.
It makes me jealous because I can never make anything simple. Even if I come up with a simple idea, I twist it into something complicated. It’d be nice to make something in two days instead of two years.
I think I need internet bitters or something. I could never have a fully productive 14 hour day of work that I wasn’t being paid for.
Haven’t played either IA or AGD’s KQIII remakes yet but my understanding is that IA’s is more of a straight port/upgrade, while AGD’s is more of a reimagination/sequel to their own reimagined KQII – which is cool too.
Well, their KQ3 is actually mostly like the original, with just a few changes. Not as many changes as with KQ2+
Forgot to mention that, but your Fawn screenshots looks AMAZING. I can only hope we manage to make Fawn look even half as good in Return.
Thanks. There have been some improvements since then. I’ll be posting some more complete screenies soon…
