More Sanctimonia…Moar Louds! (Soundtrack, in other words.)
Kevin Fishburne also informed me that he and his composer for Sanctimonia, Absynth, have released what they are calling an alpha version of the game’s soundtrack. I’ve embedded two sample tunes below for you Dragons and Dragonettes to feast your ears on, and you can download the soundtrack in its entirety from either the Sanctimonia website (where individual tracks can be listened to or downloaded) or its project entry here (which offers a ZIP archive of all the tracks).
Now, on to the music:
Concerning the music’s style, Kevin writes: “You may be thinking to yourself that the music seems a bit out of character for an Ultima-style game. I thought the same thing initially but then thought about games like Sorcerian (PC with MT-32), Ys (PC Engine CD), Ninja Gai Den (NES), Atelier Iris Eternal Mana 2 and realized that the style could actually work. We plan to have as many songs as possible, including multiple songs for the same “event”. Even the main menu and each sub-menu will have more than one song. Also the songs won’t repeat, so after their initial run all that will remain will be environmental sound effects until another music event is triggered.”
Personally, I get a bit of a TRON vibe from some of the tracks. And no, I don’t mean that in a bad way.
