Beautiful Britannia: Rocky Mountains
Firstknight writes, concerning the latest awesome screenshot to be posted at the Forgotten World website:
I had some difficult times creating this latest terrain texture, and it comes not without some style change, but…
Finally I was able to create a new base texture set for “rocky mountains”; necessary transistions will follow soon.
The lastest “Awesome screen” shows a nice comparison. I have to note, that this scenery will look definitly better, when decorated with rocks and other objects in the final version
See for yourself, good Dragons and Dragonettes:
On the whole, I’d have to agree; the enhanced texture would definitely benefit from the addition of rocks, boulders, and suchlike assets, which I would assume will be forthcoming in a later screenshot and release of Beautiful Britannia. That said, it still looks pretty awesome. As in really awesome.
Or, pace Jayne: “I’ll be in my bunk.”
Wow ‘awesome’ work again FK.
It is really amazing how the mountains now look so much taller and yet their elevation was unchanged.
That is definitely an improvement. Good job Firstknight.
On a side note, I’ve created a symlink on my web site pointing to the images directory of my project, which anyone here can use for their projects if they like. See the “README – License” file for details.

Also let me know if it flat out doesn’t work, as while it works on my LAN the Internet is another thing entirely.
Thanks for your comments, friends.
Now I know, that it’s a good idea to start working on the transistions based on these textures.
A special thanks to you, Sanctimonia, for providing a great resource for further improvements! I’ve already checked it out, and there is definitely useful content included.
Thank you. Sometimes I feel like I’m coding in a cave and my only conversation is my echo. I’m glad to provide what I have. Good news is I’m always updating it. 🙂
Now if I can get that Apache addon that creates image thumbnails for directory listings I’ll be really happy.
Your Updates will be always welcome!
And yes, working on such projects can feel like walking along a lonesome path, but as long as you have a vision, it doesn’t matter.
New texture ROCKS! BTW, i like old one too.
