Added: Exult for Android (Native)
This is a preliminary port of Exult to Google’s Android mobile OS using the Crystax NDK toolchain and the Pelya SDL port. In its current state, it apparently runs “fairly well” (according to the producer), but is still in need of some work to make it playable. Savegames are also implemented.
The available files (the Android binary and patch series) include all the data files that build with Exult on any other OS; optional download of the sound and music packs is also implemented. The original game data, of course, is not included, and has to be added to the game manually. Most Android phones have an SD card slot, however, so all you need to do is copy the needed files from your regular Ultima 7 install and run a couple of push commands within Android.
Also available, courtesy of Exult developer Malignant Manor, is a size patch that increases the size of many of the shapes in the game, which should make many in-game elements look better on a small screen. The patch supports The Black Gate, Serpent Isle, and the Keyring Mod.

nag nag…
You write
“The available files (the Android binary and patch series) include all the data files that build with Exult on any other OS;” (and similar on the project entry)
For the binary that is true, the patches are just that, patches against current Exult source so anyone can build the Android port himself. So, it’s nothing but text files. Same with Malignant’s patch, it’s against current Exult SVN. If you apply those patches and compile exult you will eventually get the data files but they are not in the patches file 🙂
Funnily I’m working just now on the ports part of Exult’s FAQ and was about to add that port when your news item came in 🙂
I’m feeling soooo ignored 🙂
Anyway, don’t forget about the Nuvie news 🙂
Right, Nuvie. Was there anything else? (I’m sick with a nasty cold, so my memory is spottier than usual right now.)
nah, even Nuvie is not urgent. get well first. you have this site going anyway right now, so time to rest avatar…
Ha,
Well. I jailbroke my iPod Touch today, because I remember you could dual boot Andriod on there, not supported with the iOS version – Too lazy to downgrade to an older version.
… I need an Android device.
I’m down to give this a go, and have all the parts, but I can;t figure out how to get the files from the ultima collection CD over to my ‘el cheapo’ android 2.1 tablet.
Anyone in the brain trust care to share a method? That would be MUCH appreciated!
Can you mount an SD card on said tablet?
That is: there’s an SD card slot, yes?
