Good Old Games has a crazy-good Christmas sale going on
As in: pretty much their entire catalogue has seen some kind of discount: over 290 games are on sale for up to 50% off. Pace Dr. Raj Koothrappali, Steam “can suck it.”
Some highlights that may be of interest to fans of this site include Gothic and Gothic 2 Gold Edition, two games which could be viewed as spiritual successors to the Ultima series, and which really improve upon where Origin was headed with the Ultima 9 engine.
Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition is also on sale; several Ultima remake projects, both complete and not, used it as their base.
I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention the Earth 2150 trilogy. A sci-fi 3D real-time strategy came really doesn’t have anything to do with Ultima, but still…it’s a great series, and one to keep in your catalogue of games if you don’t already have it.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Arx Fatalis — Ultima Underworld 3 in all but name — is on sale for a pittance. If you don’t have this one, get it. Get it right freakin’ now.
Oh, and why not one more thing?Because really, it’s worth pointing out that Impulse/Stardock are doing a “25 Days of Christmas” promotion, and today seem to have pretty much every game published by Dreamcatcher Interactive on sale. Notable inclusions on this list include Gothic II Gold (again) and Gothic 3 Game of the Year Edition. Highly recommended.
And a reminder: if you buy anything through Impulse, you support Aiera.
