ExtraLife: Play Games. Heal Kids.

One of the game devs I follow on Twitter, GameDevFTW, is participating in ExtraLife, a fundraising initiative for the Children’s Miracle Network in which gamers take pledges and raise funds to sponsor a 24-hour gaming session.

On October 16th, 2010 I’ll attempt to play video games for 24-hours straight, and I’ve asked you to come by in hopes that you’ll support me by giving just $1.00 per hour ($24 total).

Your donation is tax-deductible and 100% of your gift goes to help heal sick kids, here in Portland, OR.

This Fall, my fellow Extra Life gamers are going to make miracles happen for kids. I can’t do that without your support. My goal is to raise $500.00.

When my niece was two she had to have surgery on her neck at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. She has grown into a beautiful young lady who is now a Freshman in high school.

I would now love to give back to help other needy kids. Please join me in supporting Extra Life and more importantly, the kids that we’re doing it for!

Let me just say, as a parent who has had his kid go into a children’s hospital for treatment of a potentially life-threatening condition: this sort of thing is totally worth the price. So if you happen to have a few spare bucks kicking around, good readers, why not chip in? Heck, why not blow her well past the $24 she needs to reach her fundraising goal?
