14,000 players: Ultima 4 Flash Version

According to a briefly visible revision to the Ultima 4 entry at the Codex of Editable Wisdom, Blair Leggett’s Flash-based port of Ultima 4 has had over distinct 14,000 players between May and September of 2010. (The entry was added to Aiera in April of that year.)

That’s pretty incredible, really, for a fan-made, browser-based project. To me, at least, it proves that Ultima can — does — perform well on alternative platforms, even as a browser-based game.

Now someone just needs to get it running on the iPhone.

Though it would be more interesting how much time people actually spent playing it 🙂
I only checked it out quickly but never got much further than spawning in moonglow

A fair point, and information I don’t have.

  3. Hiya!

Actually, the 14,000 visitors are from May to September 25, 2010… I can tell you that from the site statistics, over 30% of those visitors play the game for at least 30 minutes, and 8% of the visitors play for more than an hour… I’ve had a handful of people email me when they’ve finished the game. I haven’t had a chance to update the leaderboard (in the middle of an international move), but that will be done soon!

    Cheers!

Hi Blair, thanks for dropping by!

I’ve updated the entry to reflect the information you’ve given, at least in terms of the window in which the visitors…uh…visited.

Thanks for the update on it 🙂
I didn’t mean it in a mean way, even though it sounded a bit like it 🙂
