Windows 7 Question

Has anyone tried running Lazarus under Windows 7? If so, did it work? If it didn’t, did you get it working…and, if so, how?

  1. We’ve had the same issues with The Ultima 6 Project and have some solutions on our forums over at http://www.projectbritannia.com/forum/index.php?topic=841.0

Since both Lazarus and The Ultima 6 Project use the same core, the solutions *should* be the same.

  2. I can’t say I’ve had any issues with it, unfortunately.

Heh…not sure how to take that, Wizardry. I’ve got Win 7 now on one computer, and actually quite enjoy using it. It’s a very clever OS, apart from the issues it has running some older games.

Though really, I don’t fault it for that. The OS that a 20 year old game was designed for was/is really nothing like a modern OS.

Frilly, thanks for the link. That solved things nicely.

It also depends a lot if you are running 32-bit or 64-bit version. I’m currently running 32-bit Win7 and 95% of the games have worked beautifully. And still I’ve managed to get those 5% of the games working. 🙂

True, it does seem to be x64-specific. I’m toying around with the idea of setting up an XP Virtual Box to handle old non-3D games, actually. And maybe some 3D games too, if I can get the acceleration working.

I remember the Legend of Aranna version of DS could only work under Vista x64 with a crack due to the nature of the CD Check protection of the game, but never had any problem of the sort with vanilla Dungeon Siege on either Vista or Windows 7
