You can all thank Chlorthos Dragon for bringing the above video to my attention. It’s a pretty amazing compilation of George Nowik’s remixes of the various tunes on the Ultima 3 soundtrack (specifically, the Commodore 64 port of the game), which covers a variety of musical genres.

Nowik describes his work thusly:

…the bass is actually a chapman stick, the arrangement is a combination of the C64 and NES arrangements (to appease both worlds with two entirely different soundtracks), and holy crap some of you guys actually remember the original source material. you people are the best of peoples ever.

…the PC versions of the ultima series did not have official music until ultima 6 came out. early ultimas only had music starting with 3 on commodore platforms and possibly apple and atari platforms. ultima 5 had music only on the Commodore 128 and i believe the amiga.

It’s a pretty excellent take on these classic tunes, and well worth a listen if you have ten minutes to spare.
