Shroud of the Avatar: New Stretch Goal, Of Sorts

In a brief update posted to the Shroud of the Avatar forums, Starr Long has announced a new stretch goal, of sorts, for the game’s ongoing crowdfunding efforts:

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Be it known that Lord British hath challenged me, Darkstarr to a fencing match whilst both wearing puffy shirts. I, Darkstarr hath accepted said match pending the achievement of $3.25 Million in funding! Huzzah!

Be it also known that should such funding be achieved by Release 3 (Feb 20) then Rustic Dragon shall train Darkstarr in the fencing arts and this training shall be captured in a video montage with music!

Be it also known that should such funding reach $3.3M by Release 3 (Feb 20) then the loser of said tourney shall go jump in a lake!

Sincerely,
Darkstarr

To Sum Up:

  • $3.25M = LB vs. Darkstarr Fencing in puffy shirts
  • $3.25M by Feb 20 = Training Montage
  • $3.3M by Feb 20 = Loser jumps in the lake

Some of you may recall that Lord British is actually rather skilled in the art of fencing, having taken considerable training in the field. Starr Long, however, is a complete novice where fencing is concerned, which suggests that this match will be a very short and one-sided affair.

Fortunately, Chris Spears has announced an unofficial addition to the stretch goal:

Unofficial goal, $3.35M by Feb 20 and Chris will make sure the winner *cough*Richard*cough* goes in the water too…

The lake in question is evidently the one located on the grounds of Richard Garriott’s property in Austin. It is apparently rather cold.

At the HoBLotH Rustic had boffer fights, WHICH HE SADLY DIDN’T BROADCAST DAMN THEE JOESEPH, but from what I heard he was pretty good. So as much fun as it would be to watch Lord Blackthorn get his soul patch handed to him by Lord British in a duel, I’d like to see Rustic take on LB.

That just made me think of something… Imagine a series of pads you put around your arms, legs, torso and head that have impact sensors and a board (Raspberry Pi?) that calculates damage and announces when and which limbs have been disabled as well as when you’ve died. Like Lasertag with melee weapons. That would be cool. Someone invent and sell cheaply, please.
