Shroud of the Avatar: Practice Scene for the Scene Creation Jam

With the first Shroud of the Avatar Scene Creation Jam set to take place on September 20th, Portalarium tech director Chris Spears has announced a practice challenge for aspiring builders to try their hand at:

Things we’ll be looking for are overall scene presentation from a player’s perspective. If you have an island and don’t know how to fake a boat, no worries, you can just assume we’ll teleport from dock to dock. You don’t need to be able to enter into the buildings as we’ll swap in our own models if needed.

Presentation from a blimp cam will also be considered but very secondary compared to visuals and movement through the scene.

I would suggest something around 1000×1000 meters in overall size for the map but the town might only make up the middle quarter of that 1000×1000 meter area. Smaller or larger is fine…

…For extra credit you can include a story explaining your vision of the city either in video or text form!

If you need a quick primer on making terrain in Unity, be sure to check out Mr. Spears’ tutorial thereabout, and perhaps consult this document as well, which serves as a guide to Portalarium’s Dungeon assets for Unity.
