Stephen Emond Needs Your Help! Again!

You know how you can tell I’m a parent? I typed “needs your help” and immediately thought about this. God save me!

But I digress. Over on the Ultima Dragons Facebook page, Stephen Emond has posted another request for assistance tracking down particular versions of various Ultima Online release and expansion packs:

Over the years UO was released in MANY different countries. While the majority of them received some form of localization, others were direct imports. There are a number of European countries that EA specifically marketed various UO releases to, but information on them is lacking. The following were most likely direct imports from the UK, USA, or Asia-Pacific; but when you consider the localized Ultima releases from Greece, Czech Republic, Slovenia, etc anything is possible. What I’m looking for is confirmation on whether these releases were localized or not (and if not which region the import came from):

Third Dawn:
Norway

Lord Blackthorn’s Revenge:
Norway, Sweden, Denmark & South Africa

Age of Shadows:
South Africa

Samurai Empire:
France, Denmark, Poland & Australia

8th Age & 9th Anniversary
England

If you’re able to offer any insight, Dragons and Dragonettes, drop a comment here or (preferably) hit up his original post on Facebook and speak your piece! Every little piece of information you can supply makes Stephen that much more able to turn in a definitive, comprehensive Collector’s Guide for Ultima Online as a follow-up to the wildly successful [amazonify]1467934607::text::::Ultima: The Ultimate Collector’s Guide[/amazonify].

Of course any useful information supplied might win you a copy of the book as part of my contest. Also, I am in fact aware that South Africa & Australia aren’t European but I tacked those on later and “Quest for Knowledge – European History” sounded pretty catchy so I just ran with it.

For the record Dora Saves Britannia was my favorite…

  2. Sadly I don’t know about those, but I asked Pix on his blog about if an spanish release I own was on the book (which sadly I haven’t had the money to buy yet….). He said it wasn’t there. The relase in question is called Ultima Pack and came with a CD with the translations of Ultima 7, Ultima 7 part 2 and Ultima 8. All of those without expansions or the final patch for u8.

It also came with the 3 manuals, but when I bought it the box was a bit open and there were no maps on it (not sure if they were stolen or they didn’t come with it).

I don’t have it with me right now, but I’ll be home by wednesday next week and I could take pictures of it if you want or need them.

I also have the releases of spanish Ultima 7, spanish Ultima Underworld (the game was not translted but it came with the cluebook), spanish Ultima 9 (again, game not translated), and spanish Third Dawn. Not sure if you got them listed in the book already

Natreg, I actually do have that collection in there but I could most certainly use better pictures for it! (…and a confirmation on the release date). As far as I know your copy is complete – I don’t think they included the maps.

There’s a few pictures / info bits I could use from some of the others as well; send me an email at cmdrfalcon [at!] hotmail.com when you have a chance to go through them. Much appreciated 🙂

  4. Ok, I have just sent you an email. Tell me what you need there 🙂
