I’ll Be Traveling Today
Since I’ll be spending most of today and tomorrow in the air, as it were, there probably won’t be much in the way of other articles posted to the site. That said, I’ll try and check comments from time to time, and will have access to email whilst in airports. Provided said airports offer free wifi. Or if the planes do. I’m bound for Saudi Arabia this time; surely Emirates planes offer in-flight internet service?
That said, here’s a couple of amusing things I’ve tripped over in the last few hours.
A brief history of black pepper.
Pepper — black peppercorns — are from a plant native to India, and are actually the pits of a particular kind of berry. They have been used as a seasoning since…well, a long time ago, and were even used as part of the mummification process in some cultures.
In addition to being a wanted terrorist, Osama was also “that” neighbor.
You know…the one who always had the locked yard who never returned the balls you accidentally kicked over the fence?
Yeah. He was that guy.
Low-salt diets are ineffective at preventing heart attacks & strokes.
Indeed, such diets may actually boost the risk of such conditions.
The “situation room” photograph that has been released is really quite a compelling photograph, especially for both Hillary Clinton’s expression of shock (which really sells the picture) and for Obama’s expression of…consternation, I suppose (evidently, he was fully briefed on the operation at the very last minute, after it had started, after being pulled from a game of golf).
But of course, this being the Internet, it has become fodder for the LOLphoto meme-makers.
“You suck at cooking. You f#ck up rice. You think Cayenne is that fat b!tch from around the way and Old Bay is the piece of sh$t that keeps calling the cops on you and your boys. Stop being such a f&cking loser and grow a brain. Cooking is easy as sh*t. Learn it.”
Far, far away from those city lights
Might be shining on you tonight
Far, far away from you
On the dark side of the moon
I long to hold you in my arms and sway
Kiss and ride on the CTA
I need to see you tonight
And those bright lights
Oh, I know it’s right
Deep in my heart
I’ll know it’s right
By the bed, by the light that you read by
By the time that I get home to say good night
I need to see you again
On the dark side my friend
On the dark side
The rolling “face ball” looks like Captain Jean Luc Picard. Bizarre…
JUST IN CASE, that’s a great song by Wilco. Nothing personal. I heard it on NPR and it stuck with me.
Traveling, schmaveling. You need to cover Ultima: Rebirth! http://pixazura.com/news/ds.php?id=1128
I’d heard of that project…never saw any media for it, though. Until now, that is.
The use of the JRPG style baffles me…
DA:Origins also had some great funny mods. My favorite: Slapping Morrigan. Because we all wanted to do it.
Wow, that Ultima linked from above looks crazy.
Radogol:
Whoa. Frazetta would be proud.
Why does the Paladin look like the Avatar/Guardian hybrid from the UXO trailer?
Why is the Shepherd a dominatrix?
Why are the Mage and Druid wearing coloured duct tape?
Man, oh, man…I am rather glad this one got cancelled. I hereby dub it Mount Drash 2!
More importantly, why does the bard have a shotgun?
The bard looks like your run of the mill pirate, which…okay, is kinda odd, but it’s not like Ultima games never had those.
Building off of that, the “shotgun” is probably a musket. Which also featured as a (Easter egg-ish) weapon in Ultima 7.
Whoa this is… weird. Taken as a separate project it doesn’t look bad actually – there is some pretty neat stuff (I love the Avatar concept art), but as an Ultima ? Ugh…
I guess this kind of art DID make sense on the DS though – I mean did you guys ever so the Might&Magic that was released on it ? JRPG-ish stuff.
Apparently this was an Ultima IV Reboot as well.
Somehow I think people will be more receptiv to Barnett’s U4Ever 😛
Now all we need are leaks from that cancelled PSP Ultima Ressurection project.
You are travelling in the wrong direction, my friend!
