Over on the Ultima Dragons Discord server, in the dedicated forum channel for his Exult-based remake of Ultima 8, Ideal Dragon recently released some screenshots of a location you’ll recall was being worked on in the last update about the project: Darion’s house.

What’s perhaps more interesting, however, is what we don’t see in these screenshots. Because, as Ideal Dragon explained after posting these:

You may notice it isn’t connected to his training hall

That’s deliberate, because we’re implementing the training hall as in the original Tenebrae map, where it’s a separate building across the road from his house

That’s right; Ultima 8: Exult will be using some of the original design documents for Ultima 8, and reworking the world map a bit to more closely align with these. And not just that…some cut content is also in scope for being included in the remake:

The house in the lake, above, was empty in Ultima 8 as we got it, but Ideal Dragon has stated that there will be more of a point to it in Ultima 8: Exult; evidently, at least some of the plot points pertaining to the building still exist in one form or another, enough that they can be implemented in the Exult engine.
