It’s just a small update from Ideal Dragon, but I daresay it’s an interesting one. And Ideal, for his part, certainly thinks it’s an important one:

The Avatar’s look is now in continuity with the end of Serpent Isle! He’s wearing the Serpent Armor!

Ideal did go on to clarify that you will be able to change the Avatar’s appearance, flipping between a more The Black Gate/Serpent Isle-style look, or a ‘Buckethead’ Pagan-style look. This will evidently be effected by means of speaking to an NPC.
