“The Dark Unknown”: Pixel Artist Needed (Updated)
Goldenflame Dragon managed to end 2022 on something of a high note:
IT IS DONE!
I have played through the endgame. The Dark Unknown is, in theory, now playable from char creation to endgame. Actually doing so will be the next project, but I think I’m going to give myself the weekend off.
There’s some optional content that isn’t finished, and some art, the box/player guide, etc… the game isn’t _done_, or even _quite_ ready for alpha testers. But holy cow, folks- I think the game can now be won.
And while he kicked off 2023 with some promising development progress, he has hit a serious snag this week:
The current project is unfortunate.
Alas, the artist I had been working with is unable to finish the project, with 4/5 done. And so I am looking for one or more pixel artists who can help me finish the tileset. Fortunately I have some leads already, from posting in some adjacent games’ discords, and resurrecting the project’s twitter briefly. If you are or know someone who might be interested, send them my way…

The First Age of Update: It seems that responses to his request for help have been quite overwhelming! Goldenflame describes his situation now as being “[s]tressful and hectic, but good”, and he’ll likely be working with several pixel artists to bring The Dark Unknown to fruition.
