Caves of Lore — an indie retro RPG that lists Ultima 6, The Magic Candle, Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday and the original Final Fantasy among its influences — popped up on our radar a few months ago. As noted previously, one very Ultima-like element in the game is the way in which the phases of the world’s three moons will have many different effects throughout the course of the game (including creating/affecting the routing of magical portals, very like Moongates). The game also boasts day/night cycles, NPCs with daily schedules, NPC and animal companions, deep skill trees and other character customization options, an extensive magic system, and hundreds of items for players to collect, equip, and use.

And as the launch trailer above states, Caves of Lore is now available for purchase on Steam.
