“Elderlands”: “Elderlands Legacy” Launched, “Elderlands Future” Announced

It’s been a while since we’ve had a news update from the Elderlands development team, in no small part because the lead developer — Jason “Lothgar” Ely — was suffering from burnout and needed to take some personal time. However, it would appear that development has resumed on the game…or, rather, games:

It has been a while since we’ve posted any information and we apologize for that.

We have launched a version of Elderlands from 2016 that we are calling Elderlands Legacy. Lothgar has fixed some of the bugs and is working on a few others. Afterward we will be having Chadarian and Chamber continue work on it while Lothgar shifts his attention to the new version of Elderlands.

The new version (which we are referring to as Elderlands Future), is the version that we’ve been working on and progressing with over the last few years. It will have major changes from the Elderlands Legacy version in several areas. We wish you all happy hunting and look forward to seeing you in the game.

A little more news about this split has been posted to the Asylumsoft Discord server:

We have two versions of EL right now.

There is the live version which is a build from 2016. We have a new version that is the future of the game and has major refactors to almost every aspect of the game. To make things a bit more clear we will use different names for them.

EL-LEGACY- The current Live Version
EL-FUTURE – The version in development.

Once EL-FUTURE is launched we’ll figure out what to do with LEGACY. They will be two very different experiences.

If you’d like to give Elderlands Legacy a try, head on over to the Asylumsoft website, create an account, and download the game client.
