The good Mr. Contato kindly agreed to let Spam Spam Spam Humbug adapt Through the Moongate as a series of episodes; over the course of the next several weeks, we’ll be reading through the first book, one chapter at a time. This week covers the first chapter of the book, which details Garriott’s exposure to programming, the fateful 1977 summer camp in Oklahoma that resulted in the “Lord British” moniker, and his agreements — first with his school, then with his father — that saw him code a series of games, and ultimately receive his own Apple ][ Plus to continue programming on.
