8 Bit Weapon has released a new video showing off the progress that has been made on Lawless Legends, a retro-styled RPG set in California circa 1856, in the aftermath of the gold rush. (Lawless Legends takes considerable inspiration from the Ultima series, both in terms of its use of a mixture of top-down tiled graphics and first-person 3D rendered viewpoints.)

The video showcases the combat system in the game, which is now actually functional (it wasn’t as of the last time we checked in with the project), a new font for in-game text, and animations.

The project also has a new website, it should be noted, and some of the recent updates there tell of improvements to how the game transitions between its 2D and 3D maps, functional scripting on the 2D maps, and the addition of new portraits to the game.
