Well, this is rather unfortunate:

So…the tile-based Ultima 5 remake is no more. I’ve updated the project entry to reflect this.

This seems to be a common trajectory for Ultima fan projects of late; they start out as an attempt to make some sort of remake of one of the classic Ultima titles, develop some good systems and/or art, and then spin that off into an original project instead.

Actually, I guess I can’t say that it is a recent phenomenon; both Ultima 1: A Legend is Reborn and Ultima 4: Dawn of Virtue did the same thing nearly a decade ago. Or possibly more than a decade ago…my, how time flies.
