Broadsword Online Games have posted an update to the news from yesterday regarding Japanese game codes for Ultima Online. And it turns out that my interpretation of Google’s feeble attempts at translation from the original Japanese text were…pretty close:

Thank you very much for playing Ultima Online game.

We are writing to inform you about termination of support of Ultima Online codes sold in Japan as at 23:59 July 31, 2015 and such codes will be deactivated and cannot be used after this date. We would therefore like you to apply your unused codes until the support end date. Please kindly refer to the list of codes subject to this at http://help.ea.com/jp/article/uo-jp-support-codes. We will inform you of any updates in the above website as well.

Sincere apologies that may cause you for this.

We are still operating Ultima Online game.

Thank you again and enjoy playing Ultima Online.

It should be noted that the above doesn’t apply to game codes purchased through Origin or Amazon.
