Check Out StoryStylus (By Flashy Dragon’s One More Story Games)
One More Story Games (OMSG) is the current development initiative of Flashy Dragon, whom you all may remember from the Flash-based Ultima 4 remake that got shut down as the result of a cease & desist order from EA a few years ago.
Flashy — Blair Leggett, by name — actually ended up at a Zynga Studio for a while. That didn’t end so well, so he decided to strike out on his own:
One More Story Games was founded in 2013 by Blair Leggett. Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Blair moved to Vancouver in 1990 to attend university and pursue a career in the games industry. He has worked for industry giants Electronic Arts and Zynga. After a near-fatal medical error while working at Zynga Dallas, Blair returned to Barrie after 22 years away to recover and start his own independent games studio with his wife Jean.
With support from the Self Employment Assistance (SEA) Program at the Business Enterprise Resource Network (BERN), Blair developed his company’s business vision and plan. Georgian College has been a key partner for One More Story Games, providing 13 programming co-op students in 2014.
OMSG has since released their first game, Mystery World, which you can play online at their website. But it’s their StoryStylus technology that may be of more interest to the Dragonfolk:
OMSG’s interactive story writing software, StoryStylus, aims to create a new kind of social game, one that is focused on characters and exploring new worlds.
You can see StoryStylus in action above (in the second video on the playlist); it’s an engine for creating interactive stories. It hasn’t been released yet, nor is a demo publicly available, but it might be something to keep an eye on. There was, at one time, a very active Ultima fan fiction community; future fan fiction efforts set in either the Ultima or Shroud of the Avatar universes might benefit greatly from a tool such as this.
