Casey Hudson Quits BioWare
Surprising, to say the least. One wonders what this means for the “unannounced sci-fi property” he and his team were supposedly working on?
Oh…nevermind. He spoke to that in his resignation letter:
The foundation of our new IP in Edmonton is complete, and the team is ready to move forward into pre-production on a title that I think will redefine interactive entertainment. Development for the next Mass Effect game is well underway, with stunning assets and playable builds that prove the team is ready to deliver the best Mass Effect experience to date.
You know, I have to confess: for a while there, Casey Hudson is the guy I wanted to be.
But I digress. This was a guy who had genuine talent, who invented a compelling sci-fi universe out of whole cloth when his company wasn’t able to continue making games using the Star Wars franchise (of which Hudson is a huge fan). Here’s hoping that wherever he ends up, he’s able to continue to indulge his creative talents and passions.
He may be gone, but it seems his ego is still in tact: “…redefine interactive entertainment.” Perhaps a Kickstarter to create the holodeck is in the works?
