Sanctimonia: New Website
I need to take some time to comb through Kevin Fishburne’s always active Twitter timeline at some point in the near future, to grab all the many and varied updates he has posted there about his progress on Sanctimonia. In the interim, however, I’d like to point out that he rolled out a shiny new website for the Ultima-inspired, PvE MMORPG a while ago.
As befits a game website, there is of course an FAQ section, a list of game features, and linkes to images and other media. (Which, granted, the previous Sanctimonia website also featured.)
The old site has been transitioned to a CMS (WordPress), hosted on the same server at my house. The old site is available at http://eightvirtues.com/sanctimonia/old/. The content is the same, but I’m hoping to allow comments and publish game updates there. I haven’t tested comment-posting yet, so let me know if it isn’t working.
What do you mean by “somewhat Ultima-inspired”? It’s not modern Ultima-inspired, for sure, but perhaps somewhat more than “somewhat”. 😉 Let’s call it Ultima Underworld meets Ultima V/VI/VII meets Ultima Online, then. No scripted stories, but inspired mechanics.
Or maybe I’ll just delete “somewhat”.
LOL, thanks. Despite my inept attempts at social media exploitation and the fact that even Ultima fans can’t agree on what makes an Ultima, in the end it will be evident that Sanctimonia isn’t just inspired by Ultima, but is its ultimate conclusion. A lot can go wrong between having an idea and executing it. I’m trying to keep the idea as fresh an unadulterated as possible along that journey. I think the combination of the abandonment of the basic ideas behind Ultima, along with imperfect execution, harmed the series in the end. No need to repeat those mistakes.
