Dino the Dark Dragon has posted another update to his website, detailing some recent additions which were made to his excellent Complete Guide to Ultima 1. Notable changes include some changes to the formatting of the Files page, a more responsive web design that will render the site better on mobile devices, and a new Projects page that lists a couple of useful Ultima 1-related utilities (and also suggests that visitors hit up the Ultima 1 subdomain here.

As well, Dino has managed to successfully decode two more Ultima 1 data files: CASTLE.4 (which holds the CGA version of the castle image from the game’s introductory sequence), and NIF.BIN, which stores the image of the final text of the game.

You may well recall that it was here at the Codex, in an exchange of comments, that Dino and Natreg hashed out the contents and structure of NIF.BIN. It’s always a thing of beauty when that sort of exchange can be fostered.
