Spoony Roasts Richard Garriott: Part the Second (With Bonus Video!)
As Noah “Spoony” Antwiler quips beneath the video embedded on his site, “British hates the little children.”
The discussion more or less picks up from where the previous chat left off, and much of the discussion focuses on the Eight Virtues and whether they were good for Britannia or not. Tangential topics arising therefrom include politics and religion, as one might well expect, as well as Richard Garriott’s tendency (in the later games of the Ultima series, at least) to try and poke holes in the Virtues and put the player in situations that required acting unvirtuously. The whole “killing children” thing comes up as well, and is handled with entirely too much laughter.
Along with the above video, as a kind of “bonus feature”, Spoony uploaded this shorter segment:
It might just be the fact that Garriott singles out Ultima 6’s story for praise, but I think this is the more interesting of the two videos. In it, Garriott and Spoony discuss space, the history of computers, and then take a tour of the Portalarium offices to go over the history of Ultima.
