Shroud of the Avatar: The Ultima Dragons Panel
As if getting grilled by Spoony wasn’t enough, Richard Garriott also decided to throw himself upon the mercy of the Ultima Dragons today:
This discussion came about in response to some concerns that various members of the Dragons aired in discussions on the UDIC Facebook group. I was asked to summarize these concern into a document, and after this was delivered to Portalarium Richard Garriott requested the opportunity to speak with a panel of Dragons.
Too, this was very much a “live fire” exercise. Although each party to the chat really only got to ask one question, the questions asked were (apart from one or two) not submitted to Portalarium ahead of time for review; Lord British is explaining things on the fly here.
Overall, I would say that the discussion went well, and the feedback I’ve heard from the other panelists (I had to drop out of the call somewhat early) is that it was a satisfying session overall, one which saw a number of concerns addressed and cleared up. We learned, for example, that Shroud of the Avatar will indeed have NPC schedules, and it was re-iterated in clearer fashion that the game will be entirely playable in a single-player mode (although Garriott did urge players to explore the “Single Player Online” (SPO) mode, in order to benefit from the dynamic persistent world elements of the game).
Ultima Dragons; fuck yeah. Understand the “heart and soul” in a way that few others do, so I appreciate your council during this time. And Kudos to Kenneth of UltimaCodex. And he did than phenomenal job.
