The Black Gate Board Game: Artist Profile of Philip Kwan
At the Sixth Circle Gaming website, Lucifuge Dragon has posted a profile article introducing us to Philip Kwan, a talented artist who has recently been creating images for Lucifuge’s board game version of Ultima 7: The Black Gate.
…my first contributor is none other than my close friend, tattoo artist and fellow nerd, Philip Kwan of Vancouver, BC. Phil and I attended art school together in 2003/2004 and we have been good friends ever since. He has exceptional skill with many different mediums from pencil, to paints, to ink and when he learned of my Black Gate board game project…well I didn’t even have to ask. He drew a fantastic Orc in about 10 minutes right in front of me. He has also allowed me to use some of his past work for use as other game cards which I am super stoked about.
Phil has worked through out Vancouver’s gaming industry but eventually found his way into the world of tattooing. After apprenticing around town he now has his own shop in East Van and brings a truly unique flavor to the community. I would say his style is unconventional but that is also what makes it so appealing.
You can check out a few samples of Mr. Kwan’s artwork at the Sixth Circle website. Lucifuge Dragon also posted a sample of his game-specific artwork on Facebook.
