Bethesda Thursdays
The Elder Scrolls Online
ZeniMax Online have been fairly busy of late, and I don’t just mean that they’ve been working on their upcoming MMORPG. They’ve been doing that too, of course, but they’ve also taken some time to discuss the game’s lore, post some more in-world fiction, and…field some additional lore-related questions. Massively, meanwhile, took a look at the game’s Nightblade character class.
There is also a new interview with one of the developers, and…okay, I’m not sure who at ZeniMax thought that “snowboard” and “fantasy MMORPG” went together, but there’s a commemorative snowboard for the game available for purchase.
Morrowind
Think you know your Morrowind? Takez vous this quiz.
The Evil Within
It’s apparently terrifying. Seeing as how it’s a survival horror title, I suppose that’s a positive.
id Software
Bethesda’s in-house engine technologists (they also make games, but that doesn’t seem to be Bethesda’s primary interest in them) are looking for character artist.
With respect to The Evil Within (muah ha ha ha haaaaaa), I just want to know where the chainsaw-wielding-maniac got the chainsaw, and why it’s considered an effective weapon considering the combustion engine is a continuous position giveaway aurally. In DOOM I used the engaged chainsaw sound as a psychological warfare tactic as I raced around, knowing the lilting crescendo and decrescendo of whirring tooth-belt would make my opponents’ hairs stand on end, but if this is a stealth game it doesn’t seem suitable. Same shit goes for Texas Chain Saw Massacre, acting like leatherface actually can creep up on people with his saw on some mythical quick-start mode. Gotta call bullshit, though it looks decent otherwise.
Well, first of all, I can’t seem to log in. Tried IE and Chrome.
Secondly, I only managed to score 11 out of 20 on the Morrowind quiz. Which isn’t bad I guess, considering how abstract some of the questions were, that on some I knew it was one of two answers and guessed the wrong one, and that I haven’t played it in a decade. But still… I expected better.
According to http://jobs.gamasutra.com/company/id-software-0463 they’re also looking for two physics and simulations programmers.
