Ian Frazier, “Tibby” to Ultima Fans, Is Now Lead Designer for Mass Effect 4
Ian Frazier — known, various, as Tibby, Tiberius, or Tiberius Moongazer to members of the Ultima community and fans of Ultima V: Lazarus — has certainly been on an upward career trajectory lately. In the last few years especially, he migrated from being the lead combat designer for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning to its lead designer overall, and in the aftermath of Big Huge Games’ and Impossible Studios’ closure he migrated to BioWare Montreal …whereat he took on the role of lead gameplay designer for the next Mass Effect game.
As of this week, however, he has an even larger role to play in that game’s development:
Hey, Mass Effect 4 is in the awesomest of hands! My singing partner and dear friend @tibermoon (Ian) is now Lead Designer! #happydance

Ian himself confirmed the promotion in a Facebook update.
The next Mass Effect really couldn’t be in better hands. The good Mr. Frazier has done quite well for himself in the days and years since Ultima V: Lazarus was released. Congratulations, Ian, from all of us here at the Ultima Codex!
After the harsh reception to the ending of 3, I don’t envy him. But I certainly wish him the best.
