Shroud of the Avatar: Demo Tomorrow on RTX Live
In addition to announcing Starr Long’s recruitment to the Shroud of the Avatar team, the latest update to the Shroud of the Avatar Kickstarter page also contained some details about the demo of the game that Richard Garriott will be presenting at RTX tomorrow.
We’ve been super busy the past couple of months working on major milestone; to have several of the core game mechanics working together, with new, original artwork from our expanding team of exceptional game artists! We were shooting to accomplish that milestone in time for the RTX 2013 event in Austin, TX on July 6th, and we managed to pull it off! Be sure to check out the live stream on RTX Live of Richard Garriott showing the SotA demo at 4:30 pm CDT, July 6 (or, if you happen to be at the RTX event, the demo will be in Room 19 at the Austin Convention Center).
The presetation will be streamed on RTX Live, so be sure to check it out! This demo won’t make use of nearly as many (thanks, Jayson!) stand-in assets and placeholder systems; we’ll be getting a first glimpse of Shroud of the Avatar’s actual graphics and systems in the gameplay demo that Portalarium have prepared for tomorrow.
I don’t think this is quite accurate. There are definately going to be placeholders for some things. The Hangout of the Avatar chats have showed health, mana, and xp bars, but Richard has repeatedly said that he doesnt want to ship with things like those. But to be playable, something like that needed to be in place, since implementing a visual style for those things takes considerably more time.
So… there will be “more current” technology in place, with some placeholders until the final systems can be designed and implemented.
