Square Enix had no comment to offer when asked if Deus Ex: The Fall — their recently announced first-person shooter for tablets and phones — would ever be ported to PC. They were nevertheless happy to give previews of the game, and to talk about how they were streamlining the Deus Ex experience for mobile devices.

A new trailer was also released for the Wii U port of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This version of the game, the Director’s Cut, will also be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PCs later this year, apparently. Which is good, because apparently it’s the version of the game to play.

I guess we can also guess who was behind the somewhat recent spate of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning discounts; the state of Rhode Island has made a little bit of cash off of recent sales of the game.

Neverwinter has been in open beta for a while now, but it has now been given an official launch date. A free expansion will also be released some time this summer, and hey…what game-related announcement these days is complete without a trailer of some kind. The game also received a massive balance update recently, which also rolled out a bunch of bug fixes and a shiny new public test server. The game seems to be doing well, in other words.

The new Might & Magic X website is looking for user participation, soliciting input about dungeon concepts players would like to see in the game. The game will also be shown off at at Rezzed 2013.

It was apparently confirmed that the next Thief game will in fact be coming to PC, albeit as a third-party port. This being E3 week, we also got to see a new trailer for the game, a gameplay demo, some new screenshots, and even a piece of concept art.

Destructoid, at least, think the game will be a wild ride indeed.

Oh, and hey…did you folks all see this insane remake of Baldur’s Gate using Neverwinter Nights 2? Yeah.

BioShock Infinite fans continue to greatly amuse: check out this mashup of Elizabeth and Liberty City (from Grand Theft Auto 4). GameFly also had the game on sale recently.

Supergiant Games’ Transistor continues to look very neat indeed, although it will apparently be launching on PlayStation first, with other platforms to follow. Well and good, I suppose; it gives me more time to finish Bastion. Which game, by the way, has sold very well indeed.

Path of Exile has found what seems to be an excellent monetization strategy, having raised $2.5 million off of sales of “support packs” for the game. These packs are kind of like Kickstarter reward tiers; you can get simple in-game content and other rewards (e.g. the soundtrack) in cheaper packs, and significant rewards in more expensive packs.

Oh, and beta signups for ArcheAge — the Trion Worlds-supported North American port — are open.

Ugh. I’m so sick of tablets and smartphones ruining PC and console franchises. If there’s one franchise that doesn’t work on tablets/phones, that’s Deus Ex. Some franchises just weren’t meant to be casual. The great thing about Deus Ex is its depth, and casualizing and simplifying it (or “streamlining”, it like they put it) would take that away.

  2. Here is something that might interest some of us. This is the 30th Anniversary of the King’s Quest series.
