CD Projekt Sundays
Polish RPG developers CD Projekt RED have remained fiercely independent throughout their history as a gaming company, and that’s decidedly a good thing for them. One doubts that the Witcher games would have gotten made — or, at least, released in their uncensored form — under the watchful eye of any of the major game publishers.
Of course, remaining independent comes with certain disadvangates too, and in a recent report posted to their website, the company gave us a glimpse at what sort of work is required to keep an independent studio open and staffed as its development teams work on two major AAA titles.
Here’s the short version: in addition to supporting The Witcher 3 (which, in case you hadn’t heard, will have three playable epilogues) and Cyperpunk 2077 (the former across multiple platforms), CD Projekt RED will be delivering two smaller computer games and a mobile title set in…well, at least one of their game universes, as well as some sort of Witcher game that doesn’t have anything to do with computers (a card game, perhaps, or maybe a board game). Oh, and in the midst of all that, they’re also planning to open a US office, and possibly other regional offices.
And they’ll be releasing REDkit, of course.
