BioWare Mondays
The biggest news this week, of course, is that Citadel, the final piece of single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3, will be released tomorrow. It’s evidently a massive piece of additional content, as such things go, and elements of its story will unlock over the course of the game. Unless, like me, you have a bunch of savegames lined up in which all that remains is to attack Cerberus headquarters. At that late stage of the game, all of Citadel will be available by default.
The launch trailer for Citadel is pure fan service, of course, but…that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Nothing like one last adventure with all of Shepard’s current and former squadmates to finally end the first Mass Effect trilogy once and for all.
Speaking of DLC…if you still dabble in ME3’s multiplayer component, don’t forget to check out the Reckoning DLC that was released last week. Or just watch the the trailer for it, if multiplayer isn’t really your thing.
Also in the news is Mass Effect: Foundations, a new graphic novel series that series lead writer Mac Walters will contribute to. Its focus will evidently be on some of the side stories that have been hinted at in various Mass Effect games.
Finally, don’t miss Gamespot’s interview with Greg Zeschuk and Greg Kasavin about the emotional cost of making video games. Zeschuk’s comments are particularly worth taking note of, since it was in large part due to his being emotionally burned out that he ultimately opted to leave BioWare.
And remember…Ian “Tiberius (Tibby)” Frazier now works for BioWare. On the next Mass Effect, no less. How cool is that?
