Random Wednesdays
Overhaul Games has released the manuals for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, for those of you that need them. The iPad version of the game also saw an update recently. And RPGFan rated it a solid 85% in their recent, somewhat belated review.
Also worth checking out: the Synergies mod for Torchlight 2, which adds new classes and a whole bunch of endgame content (among other things) to an already quite excellent game.
Trion Worlds announced that they will be bringing sandbox MMORPG ArcheAge to North America…which is evidently a fairly trying task.
I haven’t talked much about Path of Exile, although I think I mentioned it once or twice at Old Aiera. At any rate, the game (an action-RPG boasting a procedurally-generated world) held an open beta over the weekend, ultimately playing host to some 70,000 testers. Previews of the game offer generally positive reports, although the difficulty of some of the monsters is evidently quite…high.
Pre-order bonuses for BioShock Infinite were detailed recently, and a trailer for the deluxe “Industrial Revolution” edition was also released. Another video — a mockumentary, really — was also released to introduce the game’s setting.
Irrational Games level designer Shawn Elliott also shared his thoughts on the box art controversy that erupted a while back.
The Cryptic Studios developer blog was updated with a second entry concerning character customization recently, and details about the upcoming beta were also released. (Hint: if you purchase one of the variously-tiered “Founders Packs”, you’ll be able to do more.)
The first Neverwinter beta will be in February.
