Bethesda Thursdays
I don’t know if any of you are situated in Russia, but apparently Dishonored is region-locked there, contrary to Arkane’s plans for the game’s widespread release. Pity, that.
Dishonored continues to review well, although Kotaku managed to find one person that hated it. VG247, meanwhile, had some fun snarking on the more common criticisms of the game, some of which are actually rather petty.
Arkane’s Harvey Smith said in an interview that he wasn’t so sure he wanted to make a sequel to Dishonored, by the way. Not because it’s a bad game or underperforming, mind you. (Granted, it’s proven unable to outsell FIFA 13 in the United Kingdom, but everywhere else it’s topping the charts.) Smith also gave an interview to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, by the way. Some concept art for the game also got released this week, with comments from Arkane’s art director.
Oh, and…Dishonored is way better on PC, which is actually nice to hear. That’s not true of an increasinly large number of cross-platform games, or so it seems, and it’s nice that Arkane opted not to just make a generic port of the console version for PC players.
The beta version of update 1.8 for Skyrim is now available on Steam, meanwhile, and the patch files contain a few interesting tidbits and details:
The files contains quest markers for the island of Solstheim, the setting for the Bloodmoon Morrowind expansion pack. Bloodmoon locations like Castle Karstaag and Raven are listed alongside new animation entries that hint at mounted dragons.
Animations listed include entries like “DragonMountedDualStaff,” which suggests we might find ourselves fighting warriors dual-wielding magical staffs from dragonback. There’s also mention of new weapon crafting recipes for Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim armour. The data is linked to the name DRAGONBORN in the file structure, which Bethesda trademarked earlier this year.
A return to Morrowind? Dragons you can ride? Now that sounds like fun.
Oh, and Tom Francis continues to slog through the game as an illusionist, so if you’ve been following his progress, do check in and see how he’s doing this week.

Whoa that’s a BS statement if I ever heard one. 😛 Well not from you since you don’t know much about consoles of course, but really it’s not the PS2 era anymore.
As a matter of fact the vast majority of mutilplatform games offers a superior version tothe consoles experience. 1080p graphics, smooth 60 FPS gameplay, FSAA and so on…. things today’s consoles can only dream of.
Now granted: a fair share of plays better with a gamepad and don’t really have a UI thought out for the PC: doesn’t change the fact that if you’re willing to plug a 360 controller, it’ll offer a better experience than the console versions. There’s a version I rarely get multiplatform games on Consoles anymore :O
Sergorn is correct. Sometimes the PC versions are broken or rushed, though.
