Random Wednesdays
Irrational Games is still looking for people, this time posting jobs for build engineers and QA engineers. The developers of ArcheAge, meanwhile, explained how the game’s piracy system will work…as in, you can be a pirate in the game. Also, if you play Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Xbox, you’ll find that the prices for the game’s DLC have dropped. And No High Scores likes them some Legend of Grimrock.
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been delayed until November, it would seem. Despite the setback, Overhaul Games has posted a couple pieces of lore/game fiction on their site, which evidently pertain to some of the new companions that will be introduced in the game.
Oh, and Epic Mickey 2 will definitely be released for the Wii U. But that’s not exactly surprising news, is it?
All that aside, though, the big news this week has to be the release of Torchlight 2, Runic Games’ new action-RPG. The game has been the subject of a lot of excitement and buzz lately, and for good reason. And it sounds like the game has improved on its predecessor in almost every way, including the addition of a large overworld (something that was sorely lacking in Torchlight, which offered one measly town as your breath of fresh, outside air).
Do be sure to check out the game’s launch and gameplay trailers, okay?
Thus far, Torchlight 2 has been chalking up solid reviews, earning praise not just for its action but for making you want to explore its expansive world. Indeed, to hear Kotaku tell it, Torchlight 2 basically trounces Diablo 3 in almost every respect, except perhaps in that its plot is somehow even sillier than the one Blizzard slapped together for their latest DRM-fest.
Oh, and because guys at Runic are cool like that, they gave away the game’s soundtrack for free. (Full disclosure: I’ve been rocking out to it on my commute to work.)
