Obsidian Fridays
There isn’t much news from Irvine, California this week, as has kind of become the norm. More gaming media outlets have picked up the story of the South Park RPG’s delay, though nobody seems terribly worried that Obsidian is going to go belly-up as a result. That’s something, at least; who would have expected, as little as a month ago, that Obsidian Entertainment was in better financial straits than 38 Studios?
And J.E. Sawyer has updated his mod for New Vegas to version 4, bringing level cap adjustments, changes to stimpaks, and a few other item modifications.
Chris Avellone, meanwhile, has been blogging again, this time offering up some follow-up replies on time limits in game scenarios, using the original Fallout as an example.
Oh, and because Obsidian will be helping out with Wasteland 2, it’s worth taking note of this interview with Brian Fargo, even though it mostly focuses on the potential pitfalls that accompany success on Kickstarter.
The creators of South Park are RPG fans who are personally interested in seeing the game released. It’s Viacom who is funding the game.
How exactly will Obsidian be helping out with Wasteland 2? I read the interview, and it is 100% correct, but didn’t really mention Obsidian. Was that his former employer within which he still maintains many relationships and so naturally they would help each other in light of the new funding?
Chris Avellone will do some design work and they are getting some tools from Obsidian for creating dialog/branching paths.
