Nexon Is NOT Looking To Buy EA
Remember the recent news about how South Korean — I erroneously claimed they were Japanese previously — online gaming company Nexon was looking to acquire Electronic Arts?
Yeah, it turns out that the two companies might have something other than a merger on their minds. Think: strategic partnership.
Electronic Arts reportedly is considering using Nexon’s online servers and developers in Asia, for the game, with the goal of leveraging Nexon’s expertise in persuading players to spend money on virtual goods.
[Bloomberg] says point-blank that sources say the two sides are not discussing a merger; the two companies are not commenting.
And before anyone gets excited that this could be related to the purported Asian Ultima Online…well, don’t. It’s about FIFA Online.
