So Where Is That Baldur’s Gate Remake At?

There have been a few interesting developments at Overhaul Games and Beamdog. The team working on their HD remake of Baldur’s Gate has grown, with eight former BioWare staff added to its ranks. Dave Gross has also signed on as a writer.

As well, it would appear that they’re planning on adding at least one new recruitable companion to the game. Other features include the ability to zoom in and out.

The name of the engine they’re using is, evidently, Infinity Enhanced (which makes sense), which is built off the Throne of Bhaal source code. Evidently, should the team move on to a Planescape: Torment remake after finishing with Baldur’s Gate, they would look at adding multiplayer support to the game.

Not all is roses, however…or maybe it is. It depends, I suppose, on what your thoughts in the Wii U (which Nintendo announced a while ago) are. Evidently, Trent Oster made a point of singling out Nintendo, explaining why Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition would not be ported to the Wii U. In doing so, he cited various Nintento policies that were, in his view, insurmountable obstacles, including high sales thresholds and small game data limits.
