Nuvie Screenshots: Roofs and Gumps
Dominus sent me a pair of screenshots of some of the new features that have been added to Nuvie over the last little while. Neither of these screenshots will come as a complete surprise, since we previously saw evidence of both features. The level of maturity of said features, however, will raise some eyebrows.
Here, for example, is an example of the current state of roof tiles in Nuvie-powered Ultima 6:
And here is a look at the current state of the inventory, character stats, and backpack gumps:
I am still so digging the scrollable backpack inventory list. That’s the way Ultima 7 should have done it.
Now, not all is roses: work is progressing on the implementation of full-screen mode, but at this point the feature is not particularly useable or playable. Once it reaches those points, however…well, let’s just say I quite agree with Dominus’ assertion that full-screen does indeed seem to be the way to play Ultima 6.
I’m ashamed to say, working on an Ultima 6 texture pack for Minecraft, that I haven’t actually SEEN Ultima 6 in action in probably two decades. It’s something I keep meaning to rectify. Hopefully this project will make that a little easier. It looks amazing.
Looks beyond awesome. Good job.
That looks fantastic!
However I gotta disagree about UVII: the way inventory is in U7 is perfect 😛
Looking great!
Unfortunately, conversations are still not implemented in fullscreen mode. Other than that, it’s an awesome work in progress.
Very impressive.
That just looks beautiful.
Wow, Nuvie is turning into quite an impresssive game! Judging by the new graphics it looks like it’s getting a bit more ambitious too.
Might I suggest, the u6o tile packs, especially Chin and David’s combo packs,

I think there’s a bit of everything here. David and Chin’s is obviously the best graphics pack. Enci’s Christmas graphics pack is just a mod, but the best mod I’ve ever seen. I’m a huge fan! And Quentin and my graphics pack updates the blocky old tiles with filtering and a little handmade touch to smooth out the rough edges left over. We tried to stay as traditional as possible. And if we updated it entirely, you’ll notice the large blocky black outlines of items have all but completely disappeared even on tiles that weren’t filtered.
As I have no idea how you’re handling tiles in this game, I don’t know how easy or hard it would be to customize such a thing. Although I’m sure these already done tile packs may be of interest to you.
And no, I don’t know why Galleon chose black as the default transparency colour!
