Browncoat Jayson Continues His Ultima Game Developer Series at the Lycaeum
It’s been a couple of months since last we heard from Browncoat Jayson, who has really jumped into a commanding role at The Digital Lycaeum, but as of this month he has resumed posting articles in his excellent Ultima Game Developer series.
New articles in the series include:
- Conversation Trees – a look at conversation mechanics, fundamental to RPGs and particularly necessary in an Ultima game!
- Hardware and Software Requirements – a look at the systems and tools that developers need to have available to aid their work.
- Testing Requirements – a look at the different kinds of game testers, and the different stages at which to test games.
He has also posted a review of the Ultima 6 Project which is worth a read. It didn’t score as high as Lazarus, but the difference is just one percent!
Oh, and by the way: Don’t forget…if you have content (3D models, art, music, whatever) that you’d like to submit to the Lycaeum archives…please do so!
I’ll chalk this up to the 90% disappointment factor, but I find it disturbing that such well-written articles seem to be ignored while Aiera posters have reason to blather about Minecraft and Ultima IX texture updates. Not to belittle those achievements, but Jesus, does no one on Aiera give a shit about anything insightful anymore?
Great articles, and keep up the good work. I think we have too many executive chefs and too few line cooks around here.
