Beautiful Britannia: New Flowers!
Firstknight sent me another fantastic Beautiful Britannia screenshot by email, and wanted to draw attention to a couple of particular features thereof. He writes: “The screen shows not only the new [texture] transitions, but also a newly-designed blue flower, which is both detailed and ‘less aggressively bright’. I want to rework all flowers on this basis.”
It’s pretty cool:
I don’t know if this has yet been posted to the Forgotten World website (it probably has), but regardless…it looks awesome. Firstknight continues to make just fantastic progress on his work with Ultima 9’s engine and textures. When he’s done…will we even recognize the game?
I’ve been following the progress of BB for a while, and that’s the first “holy shit” moment I’ve had. That looks -nice-.
I also like the idea of moving in a more subtle direction as far as the textures are concerned. Despite the time period in which Ultima evolved, I never really thought of it as a “cartooney” game. Photorealism is something that Ultima always seemed to try to embrace, even though the hardware at the time didn’t really allow it. Another reason I wasn’t impressed with EA’s now-deceased Ultima X attempt; -way- too cartooney.
I think you linked to the wrong Forgotten World website?
Looks fantastic though.
Yeah, the correct website is http://www.forgottenworld.de
However, thanks for your positive comments.
It really motivates me, when I can see, that people like my work and wants to play the releases.
Please also look onto the project site of “Forgotten World” here on Aiera, the whole team has done intensive “low-level” work in the past, which is an important basis for creating “Beautiful Britannia” now.
Very nice looking flora; definitely easy on the eyes.
I really like that work you (BB and Forgotten World) are doing.
Looks very good, very much looking forward to BB and FW.
Salute!
Forgotten World will also include Beautiful Britannia , right?
@Severian
Beautiful Britannia sets the focus on optical upgrades, while Forgotten World will remove some of the bugs and inconsistencies.
So Forgotten World will be not exactly a “next version” of Beautiful Britannia, but there will of course some (or more) of the content developed for Beautiful Britannia being useful for Forgotten World later then.
By the way: sorry for the bad link. Should be fixed now.
