A little reading for project developers
Working Better: How to Take On a Passion Project When You Have a Job
It’s actually a pretty good article, which focuses on the balance between work and that project you always wanted to be working on — or are already working on — in your off-hours. To be fair, it was probably written by someone who, if not single, at least has no children to take care of; family adds an additional layer of complexity and involvement that can (and will!) dig into the amount of time one has to “play” with.
Still, the suggestions in the article are pretty applicable to most circumstances, with moderate amounts of adjustment. About the only thing it doesn’t talk about is how to really sell your project to your friends and family, and convince them to help you find a balance that works for all involved. (And by the way…if anyone figures out how to do that, let me know, okay?)
Definitely a recommended read for anyone working on…oh…say…an Ultima-related project, be it a remake or a new tale to be told.
