Saskatoons, also known (in some places) as serviceberries or juneberries, grow in abundance in many places in Alberta, and they also make the best pies. Late July is typically when they are at their ripest, so when my wife and I took the kids out to her hometown for its annual agricultural fair (the kids love going on the rides), we made a point of heading out to her grandfather’s farm to pick a bucket of them.

I took the opportunity to give my new phone’s camera a field test, and I’m pretty happy with the results.
