Crusader: No Regret Released on Good Old Games

Good Old Games released Crusader: No Remorse a couple of months ago, leaving many people wondering what happened to its sequel — Crusader: No Regret. Today, those questions are answered, as the game has been released for sale as well, at the quite reasonable price of $5.99.

The Crusader series shares little with the Ultima series, outside of the fact that Origin Systems produced both of them. Both Crusader games used a modified version of the Ultima 8 engine (which, in turn, was at one point slated for use as the original Ultima 9 engine), and the Guardian and Lord British appeared as easter egg characters in one game or the other…but that’s about as much correlation as can be said to exist between the two series. (Stronger connections with the Wing Commander and System Shock universes can be postulated.)

That said, to celebrate the release of No Regret, I will be posting a few articles about the game. For more details (and more in the way of related content), be sure to hit up Echo Sector (the main Crusader fansite) and the Wing Commander CIC.

Another connection with the Ultima series, is that Doug Forest and Ev Lunning (who respectively voiced Blackthorn and Lord British and Ultima IX) both acted in the first Crusader!

Quite possible there are other actors I’m not aware of, too.
